02. Oktober, 2014 Performance, sleepy hollows, im Rahmen der Ausstellung The Pioneers Movement, Spreetreppen am Reichstagsufer, Berlin
The agents of bankleer’s performances are fragmented pieces of the monumentalized bodies of political and economic leaders, as well as of a historical rebel. They move around and bounce into each other and the audience: talking heads as dismantled figureheads of a logic still alive and well – depicted with a wicked allusion to Socialist realism. On the other hand, the performance gives shape to capital, addressing its disfiguring tendency, throwing organs around while trying to make you believe in the existence of an ‘invisible hand’. To get rid of this fetishized capitalist bodypart, bankleer’s piece seems to suggest, we have to make the body itself the domain of our struggle.
